New Trainees

We are delighted to announce the arrival of three new members to our team.

Katie Wilkinson joins our Business Services team having recently completed her A level studies at Heckmondwike Grammar School.

Jamie Howland also joins our team directly from A level studies at St Aidan’s in Harrogate. Jamie will spend time working within Business Services and Audit.

Both Katie and Jamie have already commenced their training for the AAT qualification with BPP in Leeds.

Gordon Bettany has been recruited directly into our Audit team from Bradford School of Management. Gordon will be continuing his ACCA studies with BPP.

We wish Katie, Jamie and Gordon long and successful careers as part of the Kirk Newsholme team.

Congratulations to Andrew Thomas on his promotion to Audit Senior Manager in recognition of his contribution to the development of our audit department.

Our congratulations and best wishes to audit senior James Shaw on his recent marriage to Nicola.

Also congratulations to Stephen Parnaby and his wife Julie on the recent birth of their daughter Emily.

Finally two of the KN team had 50th birthdays in June but both individuals have requested we do not Mark the occasion by naming them in our newswire . As if we would ! (Yes we know that's cringe worthy - who writes this?).

We are pleased to report that audit partner Neill Rayland is recovering well from a bad fall. During a family day out over Easter at Brimham Rocks Neill fell and fractured his left knee and hip. Following surgery and 3 weeks in hospital he is now recovering at home. Neill extends his thanks for the kind messages of best wishes and to those who visited him whilst he was in hospital.

Neill is hoping it won't be long now before he can escape daytime TV and get back in action.

We’d like to say a big welcome back to Helen Ponsonby who has returned from her backpacking adventures this month. For those of you who don’t know Helen, she is a tax senior and has been with Kirk Newsholme for 5 years in both accounting and tax roles.

Helen took three months out to travel across south-east Asia and Australia and has racked up a number of stamps in her passport visiting Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. In spite of all the fantastic sights and activities she experienced from sunsets over Ankor Wat, climbing Mt Kinabalu and diving the Great Barrier Reef, when asked, Helen’s highlight was visiting the set of Home & Away!

Promotion

We are delighted to announce that Ben Maughan has been promoted to Senior Manager and both Lucy Walton and Samera Sacha-Qadri have been promoted to Assistant Manager. These promotions are in recognition of their excellent client service work and we hope you join us in congratulating them all.

Our congratulations go to our client Anchor Magnets managing director Peter Holmes on being invited by the Institute of Directors (IoD) to become a fellow. This follows on from Peter and his colleague, Neil O’ Keefe being awarded the IoD’s chartered director status in 2009, which recognises an individual’s capabilities as a director.

Financial health check

We are delighted to announce that we are now an accredited supplier to Business Link. This means that we can now deliver financial health checks with up to £2,000 of our time being funded completely by Business Link. This valuable initiative includes face to face meetings, an assessment of the financial circumstances of a business, a report and recommendations for an action plan.

However this scheme is set to close at the end of March 2009 so for those of you who would benefit from this service we would strongly urge you to give us a call as soon as possible.
