Richard Leonard – Director of Kirk Newsholme Financial Planning Ltd
Key role at Kirk Newsholme:
Specialist areas of expertise:
What’s the most satisfying part of your role?
The biggest part of my role as a financial adviser is sitting down with clients to understand their needs and financial goals and then helping them to put plans in place to meet those goals. It is particularly rewarding when people find they are able to achieve something they had not thought possible. This can be different for every client, be it retiring early, securing the funding they need for their business or protecting their wealth for future generations.
What was your first job?
While I was at college I took a summer job with a scaffolding company based in the ICI Billingham plant on Teesside. I spent the entire first week nailing metal brackets onto the ends of scaffolding planks and was sent on countless errands for sky-hooks, left handed screw-drivers and bee-lines amongst other things!
My ideal day away from the office would be…
A day out at Disneyland with my wife and three young children, followed by a game of squash and finishing with dinner and a couple of drinks in a nice restaurant (without the children!).
