Brooklyn works within our personal tax team having joined Kirk Newsholme in 2024 as a college-leaver. After recently completing his AAT L3, he is now about to embark on the ATT/CTA tax pathway qualification via a L7 apprenticeship.
Tell us a bit about your role and Kirk Newsholme…
I work in the Personal Tax compliance team at Kirk Newsholme and joined the team in 2024 as a college leaver where I had just completed my football scholarship and balanced my A Level studies alongside it. I play an important role in the compliance side of the Personal Tax team where I prepare individual, trust and estate tax returns and continuously remain compliant to the frequent changes in the tax legislations. I have recently completed the AAT apprenticeship which has helped improve my overall knowledge of accounting and I’m now looking forward to progressing onto the ATT/CTA pathway which will be much more focused on Tax!
What would you be if you weren’t working in Tax?
If I wasn’t in tax, I would most likely be pursuing something in sport. I completed a football scholarship, which gave me a real taste for that environment, so I’d likely have tried to pursue a career either as a player or in a role connected to football i.e. Football Coach.
What are you currently watching?
I am currently watching The Office (US).
Where is your favourite place in the World?
I’m looking forward to my next annual trip to America, as a lot of my family are from New Jersey.
What’s on your bucket list?
The UK has many peaks such as in the Lake District and Peak District, however, the one I have always wanted to climb is Snowdon and hope to give it a go one day soon!
