Why move to the cloud

  • Real-time visibility of cash flow and costs so you can make faster, better decisions.
  • Fewer manual processes, less duplicate data entry and fewer errors.
  • Cleaner records and automated reconciliations that reduce the time and cost of year end accounts.
  • Easier collaboration between your team, your bank, and your accountant. Cloud workflows also make quarterly MTD reporting simpler to manage.

Making Tax Digital: what you need to know now

MTD for VAT is already live for VAT-registered businesses. All VAT returns should be submitted using MTD compatible software or an approved bridging solution. HMRC maintains a list of compatible software.

MTD for Income Tax will be introduced in phases beginning 6 April 2026 for some sole traders and landlords. Businesses and landlords must check when they come into scope and plan accordingly.

Spreadsheets remain usable only if they are linked digitally to MTD compatible software via approved bridging tools and if digital links are maintained for audit purposes. Manual copying or cutting and pasting breaks the digital link rules.

Since HMRC is tightening digital link and submission requirements and is changing services, moving to cloud accounting now reduces compliance risk and helps you avoid rushed conversions later.
