Stepping up for Simon on the Streets

Last weekend, a team of 17 Kirk Newsholme colleagues laced up their walking boots and took on The Great Leeds Walk in support of local charity Simon on the Streets.

Covering an impressive 10 miles from Alwoodley to the Chevin in Otley, the team enjoyed glorious weather as they made their way along the course, taking in some fantastic views with plenty of chatter and camaraderie along the way.

Spirits remained high throughout, although there was one final challenge waiting for everyone… just when we thought the finish line was in sight, we were greeted by what felt like an endless flight of steep steps that led to our finish point – apparently named ‘giggling hill’, although none of us were laughing!!  Safe to say, there were a few tired legs by the time we reached the top, but with a well-earned celebratory drink waiting at the pub, everyone found the motivation to keep going.

The walk wasn’t just about the miles though, it was an opportunity to team-build away from the office while raising money for a fantastic local cause. Simon on the Streets provides vital outreach and support to people experiencing homelessness, helping some of the region’s most vulnerable people access the support they need.

Well done to everyone who took part. Whether you powered up those final steps or simply kept everyone smiling along the way, you should all be incredibly proud of what you achieved.

Also – a huge thank you to all our clients,  friends and family who very generously supported the team through donations and encouragement—it all helps make a real difference and we’re thrilled to say we have raised a whopping £3,427 ! https://www.justgiving.com/page/kn-great-leeds-walk?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

Here’s to sore legs, sunny memories and another successful KN team challenge!
