Whos Who?
Introducing the Who’s Who? corner of our monthly Newswire…
Each month we’ll interview one of the team here at KN to tell you a bit more about themselves and their role….after all, everyone loves a good nosey don’t they?!
Faizal Patel – Senior Accountant, Audit
Faizal joined the firm in May 2021 after having recently qualified at ACCA and having worked for a Leeds-based firm of Accountants. Faizal works in the firm’s Audit team as a Senior Accountant, leading teams on client audit jobs.
Tell us a bit about your role and the firm..
I joined part of the KN audit team in 2021 as Audit Senior after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. My work consists of leading statutory and voluntary audits, as well as being involved in preparing sets of statutory accounts.
My role involves on site audit fieldwork with my team members to ensure that appropriate documentation is obtained. I also hold responsibility for both completion and planning stages of the audit.
Every day is different as working in audit you explore a wide range of clients dealing in various sectors. Furthermore as most of the field work is onsite you get the opportunity to build client relationships and see lots of friendly faces along the way!
What would you be if you weren’t an Accountant?
I have always had an interest in property, so something along the lines of being a property developer. Taking a old underwhelming residential home and then renovating it to a high standard would seem like a challenge however rewarding once you see the progress and end product.
Ideal scenario would be to make an appearance on Homes under the Hammer!
What are you currently watching?
Currently watching Stranger Things, which is a science fiction horror series created by the Duffer Brothers. I’ll be honest science fiction and horror are two genres which I don’t tend to watch however the series itself is proving itself to be a thrilling and exciting watch.
Where is your favourite place in the World?
I consider myself a frequent flyer so difficult in choosing one destination however I have recently been to South Africa which was amazing and is up there at the top in being the most adventurous trip I have been on. Especially exploring different animals and wildlife on the plains of Africa to hiking up Lions Head and seeing the panoramic view of Cape Town.
Although I do like an adventurous holiday, there have been relaxing holidays which have been stunning like Maldives where cliche as it may be…is paradise on earth.
