Who’s who – Matthew Turner
Tell us a bit about your role and Kirk Newsholme…
I am currently working as a semi-senior in the audit department. A typical day for me consists of being out on-site completing sections on the file and making sure less experienced members of the team are getting on well. I occasionally do the odd stock count where I will go to the client’s site and make sure they are following controls so we can trust that it is being done right. I have been working at KN for 3 years and no two audit jobs are the same, so you are kept on your toes.
What would you be if you weren’t working in Audit?
If I hadn’t be heavily convinced to go down the accountancy route, I would try to mix my job with something else I love to do like traveling as a pilot or being a behind the scenes man in a football or formula 1 team.
What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?
At the moment I am watching house of Guinness. After visiting Ireland this year and how much I like history. I was getting excited seeing all the good reviews and thought I’d try my hardest to forget that fact that I do not actually like the drink as I much prefer lager. I am currently reading Jenson Button’s biography, but it has been a slow burner as it sits there gathering dust on my bookshelf.
Where is your favourite place in the World?
I love to travel. This year I have tried my best to visit as many different places and see as many cultures as I can (sorry for all the holiday request forms James). It would be difficult to pick a favourite as you could ask me the same question 10 times and I would give 10 different answers but there is something very special about India. I went for my friend’s 20th birthday and we had the perfect balance between relaxation and action-packed days out.
What’s on your bucket list?
I would really love to get paddock passes to a formula 1 grand prix. Possibly Abu Dhabi to see my favourite driver win the championship on the final lap again but I think I’ll be waiting a while for that, so I won’t be too greedy and just hope I get lucky with a good race with lots of action.
