Each month we’ll interview one of the team here at KN to tell you a bit more about themselves and their role….after all, everyone loves a good nosey don’t they?!

Megan Yorke – Tax Assistant

Megan joined KN in 2022 as a Tax Trainee after working for a small accounting firm in the North-East.  She is currently studying towards her CTA qualification, soon to be a fully qualified Chartered Tax Advisor.

Tell us a bit about your role and Kirk Newsholme…

I work in the Corporation Tax department which involves working with companies to calculate their tax liabilities, save them tax and advise of tax planning opportunities. I also work on wider tax areas such as employment taxes and P11Ds, pension schemes, and share schemes. My day-to-day work looks very varied and challenging and I also support junior members of the team with their work too which I really enjoy.

What would you be if you weren’t working in Tax?

I did a psychology degree so I would have loved to work in psychology research in a university as I’ve always been a bit of an academic.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?

I’m always reading something, I’ve currently got 3 books on the go and I love a fantasy book as well as good non-fiction book, we’re also making our way through a rewatch of Game of Thrones after just finishing Elementary.

Where is your favourite place in the World?

Honestly, my bed! But if we’re talking somewhere further afield, I love Edinburgh and Newcastle, two cities I really feel like home in.

What’s on your bucket list?

My bucket list trip is Australia, which I’d love to do when I have a family of my own.
