Sam Backhouse – Assistant Manager, Business Services

Key role at Kirk Newsholme:

Sam is a member of the Business Services team and supports owner managed businesses to meet their statutory requirements such as year-end accounts preparation suitable for filing with Companies House, Tax and VAT Returns suitable for filing with HMRC alongside management accounts for internal use within the business.

“I really enjoy the feeling of making a difference to a client and their business. Whether there’s a concern I can alleviate or a solution that may have been missed, the part of my role I enjoy most is working directly with clients to meet their requirements, however big or small. Wanting to make a difference is one of the great parts of the culture at Kirk Newsholme, and why it is such a fantastic place to work”

About me:

Outside of work, when not waiting on hand and foot for my wife and cat, I really enjoy going to new places for walks and coffee, a keen Netflix ‘binger’ and will never say no to seeing something live..

Sport:

I would describe myself as a ‘general sports fan’ who could probably hold a conversation on most: football, cricket, golf, darts to WWE and UFC… I just love the ‘drama’ of live sport at its pinnacle of talent, and how you couldn’t write scripts for the outcomes! When I can get to live fixtures I do, key highlights would be England’s winning Cricket World Cup in 2019, British Open golf and a couple of England football matches at Wembley… However I would love to go to the Ally Pally for darts! For a hobby I also partake in martial art Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Quirky Fact:

I was well known at school for being the local sweet seller, often having to bribe teachers with bon bon’s to prevent obstruction to business throughout break and lunch times.. (Got to do what you’ve got to do, eh?). Best seller was by far foot long jelly snakes, however I luckily paused trade just before my A levels and just before the Food Standards Agency could get involved and review my School Bag
